Our Story
-
The company started its operations in an 8,000 sq. ft. building in San Bernadino, California. The initial focus was glass to metal sealing with all components and processes procured from outside fabricators.
Daniel Schachtel, originally from New York and a graduate of the University of Rochester, moved to California to help found the business in 1989.
As the business grew, it was necessary for PHT to focus on vertical integration in order to better serve our customers’ needs and maximize our company’s potential.
-
In late 1994, Schachtel became sole owner of the business. He focused on both attracting highly skilled industry professionals, and vertically integrating manufacturing.
Over the next decade, our machining capacity grew from a handful of manual machines to more than a dozen CNC machine tools.
In December of 2003, PHT moved to its current 25,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Redlands, CA.
At that time we operated more than two dozen CNC machine tools in addition to our other fabrication equipment. With customer support, our capabilities continued to expand in both equipment and spanning multiple shifts.
-
By 2013 we expanded further into an adjacent 28,000 sq. ft. building, increasing to more than 53,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space.
This additional space allowed us to continue vertically integration including:
Electroplating and passivation
Lapping, fine grinding, and optical polishing
High temperature processes including brazing, heat treating, annealing, and controlled expansion glass processing
Protyping lab and 3D printing
Laser marking
